The Microsoft Teams desktop app to your computer when you install your Microsoft 365 app. Use the Teams desktop app if you plan to be a frequent user. While Teams for the web is convenient, especially for infrequent users, users who don't want to install software, or use shared devices, you may want to use the Teams desktop app installed on your computer for the following advantages:

  • The desktop version offers more features and settings, such as better support for background effects, the ability to add tabs for apps, and advanced settings for Teams configuration (for example, device settings for microphone or camera).

  • The desktop app allows you to access certain files and messages offline, while the browser version requires an Internet connection for functionality.

  • The desktop app is typically faster and more responsive than the browser version.

  • The desktop app is more reliable since it is not affected by issues that affect the browser.
