Applies ToMicrosoft Stream Stream on SharePoint

Collaborate with others on Stream by adding comments to videos and engaging with the content. You can mention people, like comments, and even insert timestamps to reference specific points in the video.

Comment pane open in Stream video player with several comments showing @mentions, timestamps, liking comments, and threaded replies.

Try it!

  1. Open a video.

  2. On the right side, select Comments.

Note: If Comments are not available, the owner of the video has turned them off. If you're the video owner, go to Video settings and set the Comments toggle to On.

  3. Select New comment.

  4. Type what you want. Commenting works just like it does in a document.

    • Mention a person - Using @mentions you can tag people to draw their attention to the comment for the video. Type the @ symbol followed by a person's name to tag them in the message. People tagged will receive an email notification.

    • Link to a specific part of a video via a timestamp - Timestamps in a comment will become clickable when the comment is posted. Use the format HH:MM:SS (for example, typing 1:47 into a comment will make a clickable link to one minute and forty-seven seconds into the video). When clicked by viewers, these links will take them directly to the corresponding time in the video, facilitating better collaboration and discussion.

  5. Select Post comment.
