In Microsoft Teams (free), community owners can update the community's settings at any time.

Update the settings in a community

If you're a community owner, you can adjust and manage the settings to your community. You can also change and update your community's name, description, and guidelines.

  1. Tap the Home tab in the Teams app.

  2. Tap the community that you would like to update the settings in.

Note: Community names and descriptions cannot contain links, profanities, or restricted terms to protect users from scams, phishing, and malware.

  3. Tap the community name at the top of the screen.

  4. You can do the following:

  • Add or manage your community members.

  • Manage community link.

    • Get the Share link if the Allow members to share link is enabled.

    • Get the QR code if the Allow members to share link is enabled.

Note: If the Allow members to share link is disabled, existing links are still active and community owners still have access and can share existing links. The buttons for the share link and QR code will no longer be visible to members. However, members that still have a join link can share and use it. The only way to generate a new link is for the community owner to Create a new link.

  • Make your community Public.
