Caution: 

  • If you rename a shared notebook, everyone will lose access. 

  • Do not rename Class and Staff Notebooks as this will disrupt student and staff access.

  • Before renaming notebooks that you have already shared with other people, consider giving the other notebook authors advance notice about your plans to rename the notebook they’re working in. Learn how to re-share the notebook.

To rename a OneNote notebook.

To rename a OneNote notebook you'll need to go to its file location in OneDrive or SharePoint.

  1. Go to www.onenote.com/notebooks​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​Sign in

  2. Select the Notebook you want to rename.

  3. Select the Notebook name at the top of the window to display the Location.

  4. Select the last part of link to the location to jump to the OneDrive or SharePoint folder.

  5. Find the OneNote notebook that you'd like to rename, right-click, and select Rename.

  6. In the Rename dialog box, enter a new notebook name, and click Save.
