Microsoft Clipchamp offers a range of tools to help you create, edit, and record videos at home or at work.
1. Clipchamp for personal accounts
This is the version of our video editor that you can access at app.clipchamp.com or via the desktop app for Windows. It requires a personal or family Microsoft account to log in. At this stage, other login options include Google, email, and email/password.
Clipchamp's personal version works in the Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome browser on your desktop or laptop (Windows, MacOS, Linux, Chromebook). It's also built into Windows 11 and can get installed from the Microsoft Store.
You can use it to combine and edit video clips, images, music, add text and export the finished video to your computer. You can also add visual effects, for example by slowing down a video or adding a filter.
Does Clipchamp's personal version cost anything?
The personal version of Clipchamp includes free and paid account tiers. It's free to create a video with your own media files and our free stock media collection, and it's free to export the completed video at up to 1080p (HD) resolution.
There is also a paid subscription plan available. The paid option offers the use of advanced features and access to professional stock video, music, and audio files. For more details, see the Clipchamp subscription tiers.
In addition, if you have a personal or family Microsoft 365 license then some Clipchamp paid features such as premium filters and effects are available to you as part of your subscription. To have them enabled, log into Clipchamp with your Microsoft account that is on the Microsoft 365 subscription.
iOS app for personal accounts
Our mobile app for iOS is free to use. You'll need a personal or family Microsoft account, Apple ID or Google account to log in. The mobile app does not work with a work or school Microsoft account.
2. Clipchamp for work or school accounts
The work version of Clipchamp needs to be enabled in your organization by your IT team and you'll need a Microsoft work (or education) account to access it. It is the version you can use in work or school environments in conjunction with other Microsoft 365 apps that your organization or educational institution subscribes to.
